Designing Around a TV
I love holiday movies, Netflix binge nights with the girls doing mani pedis, diving into a new docuseries and all the other fun things that go along with having a TV in the living area, but figuring out how to style around it can be a challenge. This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot since the living room at the cottage is configured with built in bookshelves on a window wall, another wall is all windows and doors, and one side open to the kitchen, which leaves only one option: to put the TV on the last remaining wall about a piece of furniture.
Here are my ideas for pulling it off:
1: The Samsung Frame Television
I love this option. You can choose from preloaded art or use the Samsung SmartThings app to upload your own art or photographs. (Side note: make sure you crop your image to exactly 16:9 or 3840 x 2160 pixels so that your image stays perfectly proportioned to the TV. Otherwise it will assign a mat that’s not evenly sized around your image.) We used this option in the living room of our lake home and I think it looks great.
I also love that there are magnetic bezel color options. I’ve not changed ours because the standard option already matches really well, but if you needed a lighter or different option, it’s available and from what I hear, very easy to use.
2: Surround it with books
3: Hide it in a gallery wall
This option is one that I haven’t tried yet, but I absolutely love! Just like with the bookshelves, having a gallery wall as part of the overall aesthetic means you won’t view the space as a television room, you’ll view the television as a part of the space.
In all of my researching, I’ve found a few other options, such as pop up TV cabinets, fold door TV cabinets, folding artwork that the TV is nestled behind, but I think that these three are the way that I’m leaning towards for the cottage.
What have you done to incorporate your technology into your living spaces? I’d love to hear!
