Studio Tour

Welcome to My Studio: A Behind-the-Scenes Tour

If you’ve ever wondered about the space where my art and interiors take shape, I’m so excited to share a peek into my studio. This is where I dream up new art pieces, plan interior design projects, and let my inspiration run wild. Come on in!

The Space

I’m on the third (top) floor of the Dilworth Artisan Station, which started out as the Charlotte Knitting Mill and has been a furniture factory, textile mill, even storage for soldiers' cars during World War II.

My studio is truly my happy place. When I was younger and dreamt of having a studio, it looked and smelled exactly like this. Creaky floor boards, smells of paint, brick walls that don’t match, and filled with natural light.

I have a really cool set of rolling doors that separate the space. When I first moved in, I hadn’t launched the interior design side of the business, so the half closest to the sink was used for painting and the other half was used mostly for displaying art and keeping my rather large book collection housed. As my career has evolved, the space has too, and now that half serves as the home of my interior design business. The books now share space with styling kits, and I use my big tables for presentations.

Some Fun Facts

I have been making Spotify Painting Playlists to listen to while I work for a long time - I’m currently on Painting Playlist No. 21! Music is a big part of my creative process. Recommendations welcome!

Two of my dear friends are my studio neighbors, Amanda Anderson of The Print Shop and Amanda Anderson Photography, and Annie Totten of Generation We. It’s a good time!

I’m grateful for the stairs I have to take up: one for the extra workout and two, so nobody can see my impromptu dance moves!
